About Joel

Joel Oleson in Machu PicchuJoel loves to travel.  Traveling to over 100 countries since 2008.  In the past 2 years he was on the road 200 days.  This past year he went to all 7 continents including napping with the penguins of Antarctica.

Joel is a travel junky, but does have a day job. When he’s not traveling at all ends of the earth he’s managing a collaboration team of 12 at the LDS Church.  He is a 12 year SharePoint veteran and was awarded 2012 top SharePoint blog and top influencer in the community.

I believe 100% that St. Augustine is correct, “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” and also believe “If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay home” - James Michener.  You’ll see that I fully embrace the food, culture, and faith.  I am looking for the richness in life.  I want to see life as it is.  I am inspired.  I seek the churches more than most priests, and more mosques than most Emams, more temples and cathedrals than monks.

  1. Joel you are one of my heroes now I am going to be right on your heels starting this Summer not traveling to Antartica yet but maybe 2013 or 2014. I am so excited about traveling Vancouvor this Summer, and France and Belgium Summer 2013 with Cuba early in 2013 and Mt. Killimangaro in 2013 or 2014. How cool. I am loving it. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I just discovered your blog through yahoo’s post of your penguin vid, and since I’ve always had an interest in traveling, I subscribed via email. My very first question is the same as Sam’s – financing travel. That is the single my dreams of travel haven’t come to fruition. I look forward to reading your blogs, but I especially look forward to reading that particular blog when you write it.

    • i also discovered Joels blog on yahoo and i think he is just a millionaire spending his fortune travelling the world…or maybe as he says he has some strategies that i would kindly ask him to share with us so that we can all share his experience of travel around the world or shall i say reading the full length of a book from page one to the last..
